Nottingham's World Cup bid - for or against?

Reject Nottingham's world cup bid?

Dear Ms Mitchell

Thank you for your email of 21October 2009.

Following recent press and media coverage you will no doubt be aware that the Borough Council has withdrawn from the World Cup Bid process. The main reasons for this include the lack of public consultation by Nottingham Forest Football Club which was requested by this Council and uncertainty continuing to grow regarding the likelihood of development taking place within the green belt.  Also, there is a potential removal of the current Regional Spatial Strategy machinery including, specifically, the unreasonable housing development allocation targets being placed upon many councils and, in particular, Rushcliffe.

In all articles and interviews that I have undertaken since this process started I have always stated and still state that for me the interests of the residents of Rushcliffe must come first.

Yours sincerely

Councillor Neil Clarke

Leader of the Council
