Chief Executive of England Athletics Mike Summers explained, “Running is ahugely accessible and enjoyable way of getting active and keeping fit. We want to be able to offer groups that meet people where they are – in their local area, at their level of ability and at the times that are convenient for them.As people progress they may want to join a running club but this is about helping people to take their first steps in the sport without any pressure orexpectation, while offering them a good level of support and encouragement. Weexpect many people to join the groups will come along not considering themselves to be ‘runners’ at all.”
