FIELDS update

An Update From FIELDS

Good News:

The proposed 4th Trent Crossing at Lady Bay
will not be built!

(but then you know that, you worked for it.)

In February Nottinghamshire County Council proposed that the safeguarded route at Lady Bay be abandoned - giving us the final confirmation we have been waiting for for so long.

Bad news:

Unfortunately the recent planning application by the County Council to relocate the Coronation Sports Ground to land east of Regatta Way was given permission by Rushcliffe Borough Council on the 1st March and work began immediately with the removal of a hedgerow, and ploughing of the land.

FIELDS recently called an Emergency Public Meeting as plans for up to 1000 houses on the farmland behind Seymour and Chatsworth Roads were revealed by the Nottinghamshire County Council during their submission to the Rushcliffe Borough Council Local Plan Public Enquiry.

At a packed meeting residents vowed to continue opposition to the County Council's plans to develop the farmland. Those present were in favour of continuing to press for the land to remain as farmland and in the Green Belt and were opposed to the development of it for more sports pitches, as a site for a school, for housing or the proposed Park & Ride facility (for which a planning application is expected at any time)

Sports facilities are permitted in a Green Belt, but housing is not, so the fight will be on to keep the land in Green Belt thereby ensuring that the housing cannot be built. A review of the Green Belt is due to take place towards the end of this year, but as yet we do not know if any public consultation will take place.

So there is lots going on and if we are to keep our local Green Belt and farmland then help will be needed.
