THE CAMPAIGN TO STOP THE FOURTH TRENT CROSSING AND THE DEVELOPMENT OF FARM LAND AND GREEN BELT IN LADY BAY

FIELDS was set up by LBCA over 15 years ago to protect the Greenbelt farmland to the east of Lady Bay from development.
Having seen off numerous proposals over the years, most notable the '4th Trent Crossing' which would have demolished Simkins Farmhouse, a grade 2 listed building, we are currently awaiting the Inspector's decision on housing allocation in the Rushcliffe Local Plan.
Meanwhile Green Belt campaigners north of the river have had to concede defeat in their battle to prevent housing at Top Wighay Farm in Linby, another County Council owned greenbelt site, which was recently allocated for housing in the Gedling Local Plan.
So the message is clear - there is great pressure on Local Authorities to release land for housing in order to comply with housing allocations set at regional and national level and continuing to safeguard our local greenbelt will not be easy.
We are in particular need of people to monitor local council reports and committee papers and prepare responses to various planning policy documents and proposals.
