I have received many comments from people regarding the proposed Forest
Stadium relocated to another site in West Bridgford. I am against this
proposal and I have made my views know for the following reasons.
A stadium located anywhere on the outskirts of West Bridgford would be
an overwhelming development quite out of keeping with domestic
housing.
The land is flood plain and would be difficult to build on.
There is insufficient infrastructure to allow large numbers of people
to travel easily to a stadium and generate unwelcome traffic.
It is
also too far from the railway station.
Policing would be difficult and
require many more police than on the current site against the Trent.
Light pollution in a currently unlit location would also be unwelcome.
Nottinghamshire County Council have currently taken over the running of
Holme Pierrepont Watersports Centre and Country Park and I would not
wish to see this well used local facility spoilt.
Rebuilding the current stadium on the footprint to provide more seating
would be a better alternative which I would support.
Rushcliffe Borough Council are the planning authority and comments to
the Leader of the Council who is also a local representative, would be
appropriate.
Thank you for your email, I always like to hear local electors’ opinions.

If you still wish to oppose this proposal it would be very helpful if you emailed the Football Association setting out your opposition to the proposed stadium on this site. The more opposition the Football Association receive from local people the better chance we have of it being turned down. Please copy Kenneth Clarke MP in your email and maybe the time has now come to start organising an active local campaign to protect your homes and community.
The County Council has only ever supported the proposal for a World Cup Bid exclusively by redeveloping the current city ground. Any other land in the County would not be suitable as it is necessary to police football crowds as close to the railway station as possible.
Please make your opposition heard and contact your friends if they agree with to add their voice.
