Residents Parking Scheme - consultation

Hi,

We recently received another round of 'consultation' from Notts CC regarding the proposed residents parking scheme for the western end of Lady Bay. This is proposing restrictions to the western ends of Trent Boulevard, Rutland Road and the side roads off here. This is to tackle the issues of parking arising from the football, cricket and office workers who work nearby and use the Lady Bay area to park their cars all day.

At the moment, they are proposing to give out residents parking permits, plus one visitor permit per household, which you can give out to visitors. The restrictions are proposed 8am - 8pm, Monday to Saturday. I understand that the restrictions ending any earlier than 8pm would not solve the evening sport matches parking problems.

We have been sent these details from Notts CC, who although have stated that they are undertaking 'consultation' do not wish to be contacted with specific issues for individuals, but more if we have suggestions in general on how the system could / will work.

Personally, I have a problem in that I regularly have hire cars delivered to use for work and since I'm often not around when they are delivered I can't give out a visitor's permit. I have contacted the council about this,  but they cannot offer a solution.

In addition, I have tabled the idea of perhaps the restrictions starting a little later i.e. 9am or 10am as this should still act as a deterrent for the office workers, but would allow a little more grace time to more hire cars, let visitors (if there is more than one car) leave in the morning, take early morning deliveries etc. I'd appreciate it if anyone else thinks this would be a good idea, to contact the council and propose the above. Otherwise, we'll end up with a system that has been altered slightly to take account of our later evening traffic problems, but not made it easy for us in the morning.

The contact at the council is Jeffrey.Burton@nottscc.gov.uk and like I said, he can't maybe answer specific queries about individual situations, but if this is our chance to modify the system to our benefit as much as possible, we should use the chance,

Regards

Jules
