Lady Bay - West Bridgford

A453 overnight closures

Resurfacing work on the A453 between Clifton and M1 Junction 24 will start on 22 January and the road will be closed overnight during this period as follows:

Mon-Thurs: Closed between 8pm and 5.30am.
Fridays: Closed between 9pm and 5.30am.
Sundays: Closed between 9pm and 5.00am.

East Midlands Parkway rail station will be OPEN throughout.

Work should be finished by 20 February assuming reasonable weather.

Diversions will be clearly signposted, and will be as follows:

• Motorway traffic wanting to travel between the M1 at J24 and Clifton will be diverted north to J25 and along the A52 to Clifton Bridge, or vice versa.

• Northbound non-motorway traffic will be diverted from M1 J24 westbound along the A50 to the A6, the A5111 Raynesway, near Derby, then the A52 eastbound to Clifton Bridge near Nottingham. Southbound non motorway traffic should follow the same route in reverse.

• HGV traffic leaving Ratcliffe on Soar power station for the M1 should head south on Ash Road onto West Leake Lane and then turn onto Gotham/Kegworth Road. At the roundabout, lorries should turn right onto Gypsum Way and at the next T-Junction turn right onto Leake Road. Vehicles will then be diverted left onto Bunny Lane/ Gotham Lane and will then follow the A60, the A6006 and the A6 through Kegworth where they will be able to join M1 J24. HGVs travelling from the M1 to the power station should follow the same route in reverse.

• Traffic heading to Parkway station from M1 J24 should access it via the A6 to Kegworth, and Kingston on Soar. From the Crusader Roundabout, vehicles should take Nottingham Road to Gotham, then travel to Kingston on Soar via Gotham Road, turning right towards the A453 at the junction with Kegworth Road.

Local diversions will not be signposted to discourage rat-running by an unsuitable volume of traffic. Marshalled access points will be in place within the closure to maintain access across the A453 for local residents and Parkway traffic.
