Improvements to the Lady Bay Skatepark

A letter from Rushcliffe Borough Council

Rushcliffe Borough Council, with support from Nottinghamshire County Council’s Local Improvement Scheme, will shortly be undertaking refurbishment and improvement works to the existing skatepark and adjacent sports facilities at The Hook in Lady Bay.

Originally constructed around 1998, the skatepark has always enjoyed an iconic status as Nottinghamshire’s first skatepark with a ‘half pipe’. Despite its aging condition, the skatepark is very popular with local young children, teenagers and some adults too.

The equipment in the skatepark has passed the end of its useful life and there is now the opportunity to provide a challenging facility for our young people.

The active and popular Hook skatepark user group have enthusiastically contributed to the design process. The new facility will be similar in nature to the existing facility, but will have reshaped ramps and will occupy the same size area of land on the tarmac as the current skatepark.

Subject to suitable weather conditions, we expect work to the skatepark to commence in mid-February and is scheduled to take 4 to 6 weeks to complete.

Further works at this site will take place later in the year and will include re-surfacing and improving the existing football area.

I hope that you find this information of interest and support our provision of facilities to encourage young people to lead healthy and active lifestyles.
