Lady Bay Planters Adoption scheme.
When we heard that our planters were under threat, myself and a fellow parent in Lady Bay began plotting a way to save them for the community. It was hoped that we could secure some funding for the scheme which we duly did and we are now on our way to the task of allocating planters.
The last thing we hope to do is to step on the toes of any Lady Bay resident who has furnished loving care on the one nearest their house or, has yearned to take over the redundant planter near their home. We will be leafleting all houses which are approximate to the planters over the next fortnight to this effect.

We will then begin the process of getting local community groups and businesses involved in work on the planters and already have 10 individuals, 3 companies and 2 community groups who would like a planter to look after.

After the audit of those already attached to the planters we will be in a much clearer position on the allocation front.

If you are involved in a community group or you are involved in a local business and would like to look after a planter please let me know on LBPlanters@googlemail.com or drop a note through the door of  No.8 Melbourne Road. Lets see if we can get all 50 planters allocated this year and get them in shape for next years open gardensÂ…who knows, there may be a corporate trophy involved.

Hopefully this is a project you will get to hear of more over the next few months.

Fiona Boyd.
