You missed it... It was...
T Wednesday 19th at 8pm, All Hallows Hall, Pierrepont Road is the time and venue for this year's LBCA AGM.
Guest speakers will be Inspector Norman England , Notts. Police local area commander on the subject 'Crime in Lady Bay'.
He will be giving an update on the meeting held in the school on 7 September. Are you concerned about crime in this area? Then come to the meeting on 19 October and put your fears and concerns to Inspector England who will explain the initiatives which have been, or will be, put in place to make this a safer community in which to live.
Also speaking will be Jon Beresford of N.A.I.L. (Nottingham Against Incineration and Landfill) - his subject is a proposed expansion of the local Eastcroft incinerator - increased local pollution, importing by road of waste from other counties (while we export our's!).
NAIL is a group of local volunteers that believe that Nottingham should be brought into the 21st Century. Currently the City recycles less than 5% of our household and light commercial waste. The rest is either sent to landfill or incinerated, polluting the ground and air we breathe.
'We have a right to breathe unpolluted air, which does not contain cancer causing substances such as dioxins and global warming gases. Over 90% of our waste can be recycled, producing far less pollution and global warming gasses than incineration or landfill.'
ELECTION of a COMMITTEE
At our meeting on 19 October, we shall be voting for people to hold the positions of SECRETARY and TREASURER for the ensuing year as well as electing a COMMITTEE to serve the ASSOCIATION. In order that arrangements can proceed smoothly it would be helpful if you could indicate in advance to our present CHAIRMAN if you would like to join the committee.
Unless people step forward, the future of the Association IS NOW IN DOUBT because we have so few active Committee Members.
The time commitment involved can be as little or as much as you are keen to put in BUT WITHOUT SUCH HELP we can't continue to be as effective as we have been in the past.
It really is a case of step forward now or the Association will have to take several steps backward.
If you are concerned about preserving and improving what we have in Lady Bay then please come to the AGM or contact our Chairman, Lawrence Geary, 96 Pierrepont Road
COMMITTEE MEMBERS:
A full list of current committee members is usually displayed along with news of latest events on the Association's Notice Boards at THE FISH FRYER and the POST OFFICE on Trent Boufevard.
