The AGM and General Meeting arranged for 13th May.
If you have been down to the Hook recently, you will have seen the work completed on the reed beds and silt trap. The orange fencing will be removed as soon as the plants have had a chance to become established. It is good to see things happening there, as the work of the committee so far has been very paper-based, establishing the framework for these activities to take place.
The good news is that we should see more activity now as the constitution has been accepted, as has the revised Management Plan, and we expect to hear very soon that we have achieved Local Nature Reserve designation.
In the meantime, the website is up and running, although still being developed, at: www.friendsofthehook.org.uk, with the associated dedicated email address: friend@friendsofthehook.org.uk. You can see the updated Management Plan, the constitution and minutes of committee meetings on the web site as well as some of the first wildlife photos.
We also have a Facebook group: http://www.facebook.com/n/?reqs.php&aref=22773616 .
So far, the Group has been operating with an interim committee (see overleaf) and it is now time to formalise this at an AGM. The AGM is open to all and will be followed by the first General Meeting of the Group. The interim committee will be standing for election in their current posts and any other nominations must be with the Secretary, Maureen Mitchell (164 Trent Boulevard) by Wednesday 6th May. All nominations must be supported by a proposer and a seconder.
With best wishes,
Linda Adcock
