A local resident (Don Read) claims to have seen a very strange looking character - dressed in a ballet tutu staggering around the streets - singing a well known ditti from classical music. Don happened to have a piano with him at the time and managed to record a few bars of the song. Anyone who may have seen this 'Hairy Fairy' should contact the following web site.

BE WARY OF HAIRY FAIRY
A Derby choir director rejected Hairy Fairy on the grounds that, Quite a lot of the words are offensive & I would not wish to be associated with them or ask our choristers to learn them. Perhaps they would be more suitable in a Rugby club. Our choristers and audiences tend to be drawn from the more conservative part of the community
Two weeks later a Nottingham choir performed the song at a church concert to an elderly audience. They laughed and applauded. There were no letters of complaint to the parish magazine. Parents and staff at Nottingham Girls High School reacted approvingly when the school choir sang the song at a prize giving ceremony.
