LADY BAY Greenies

Lady Bay Greenies Community Gardeners

‘Greenies’ is a local community of gardeners.  We grow fruit and vegetables organically on a large field that is part of the old Simkins farm in Lady Bay.  We are currently ten families and individuals, and are keen to recruit new members.  No previous experience of gardening is necessary since there are experienced gardeners within the group who can guide you.

We usually work together on Sunday afternoons and occasionally during the week.  Members can work on the field at any time though.  As well as digging, sowing, weeding and cropping, we make compost bins, mend fruit cages and cut back overhanging trees.  We also have social events such as a sweetcorn BBQ at the field and other seasonal gatherings.

There are no joining fees or subscriptions as we self-fund from grants and selling ice creams at LadyBay Open Gardens.

If you want to find out more about us or just to have a guided tour of the field, please get in touch with Ann or John.  We look forward to meeting you.
